Happy Father’s Day fellow radio folks! @everyone
Repeater announcement update for all you Indy folks!
As of 0800 hrs EST, the WQPV948 repeater on the GMRS Live network is officially on the air on 462.5500 MHz with a 77.0 Hz PL. A little about this repeater, it was formerly the ICE 550 owned by Dale Scheiman WQTL613 and was a very well established repeater, and has been in operation for nearly 2 decades, however it has sat somewhat underutilized in recent months. So I reached out to Dale back in March about my interest in obtaining the system, frequency, and tower spot from him, and we were able to strike a deal! After acquisition of some new gear at the Dayton Hamvention and with the help of master repeater builder Jordan Carter, we upgraded everything and are finally online! We have some cool voice ID’s that’ll play for you guys too. We had a lot of fun making those.

That’s right, friends, it’s open access to one and all to use. With it being connected to GMRS Live, it gives, you the user, access to many nodes all over the world, because it runs a version of AllStar.
I have 3 simple rules on my repeaters, and we will all stay friends.
1) No offensive or illicit language or content (including political rhetoric and religious speech) my kids (and hopefully yours too) will be using this machine.
2) No fighting or arguing – again, this is a family friendly repeater.
3) No business operations.
Also, and this is a rule of GMRS Live, no roger beeps or MDC signaling is allowed while connected to the 700 hub.
This is one of many GMRS repeaters that’ll be coming soon to the new Indiana GMRS network. Soon, we will have an all-Indiana hub thanks to Aaron Donaldson on node 52730, and also soon, a new website that’ll be available for all of you to learn about our systems, get programming assistance, and see the network live and in action at www.IndianaGMRS.net.
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who helped get this monster on line, and a special thanks to Dale WQTL613 for all you’ve done to advance the radio hobby in the 20 years we’ve known one another. The ICE repeater served the Indianapolis metro area faithful for almost 2 decades, and under my management, I hope to see it continue to thrive!
